When to See a Doctor
Swimmer’s ear (outer-ear infection) is extremely common in Phuket — warm sea water and humidity make the ear canal a perfect place for bacteria. It typically causes itching first, then pain that worsens when you tug the earlobe.
Middle-ear infections more often follow colds and flights, with deeper pain and muffled hearing. The treatments are different, which is why a proper look with the otoscope matters more than guessing at a pharmacy.

Book an AppointmentFrequently Asked Questions
Can I keep swimming?
Not until the infection clears — usually 7–10 days. The doctor will tell you when it is safe.
Can I fly with an ear infection?
Flying with an acute middle-ear infection is painful and occasionally harmful. If you have a flight booked, tell the doctor — timing and treatment can usually be arranged around it.
